BANDUNG TRAILS (BT), in cooperation with the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Indonesia, also supported by sponsor media such as Media Indonesia, Mara 106.7 FM, PJTV, and Rinsi Document Processing Service, organized an exhibition of LET’S GO HERITAGE (LGH) in the atrium of Bandung Indah Plaza from December 28, 2009 – January 3, 2010.

The exhibition was part of an edu-recreational and non-profit program under the same name. It aimed at promoting Bandung’s heritage to the public, with students as the main focus. Aside from the exhibition, the program included competitions, booklet distribution, and heritage road show in schools and campuses.

The background of LGH was the declining condition of Bandung’s cultural and historical heritage today. One of the possible causes might include uneven level of public awareness and knowledge of heritage in Bandung. The youth was specially targeted for they are the future decision makers on many aspects, including that related to heritage conservation. It was expected that LGH will raise their awareness, as well as their knowledge, understanding, and appreciation towards heritage.

The materials of the exhibition included the historical timeline of Bandung, from the prehistoric to today’s development era. Twenty photos of randomly picked heritage sites were also displayed. Aside from the exhibition, there were also heritage poster and story telling competition for college students, heritage talk shows, and art performances. The whole event, which began the year of 2010, in coincident with the 200th anniversary of Bandung, was a success, with more than 25,000 visitors who, in general, rated it within good scale and said they gained information on Bandung’s heritage.

After BIP, the exhibition continued on the corridor of Asia Africa Museum in the next following month, starting from January 5 – February 4, 2010. Aside from that, there were heritage road shows in a number of senior high schools and colleges within the Bandung Municipality.
